NDHSAA cancels spring sports, basketball tournaments

It never had the chance during COVID-19. North Dakota spring High School season is over before it started. During a meeting that had the North Dakota High School Activities Association, on, May 1, voted to cancel the season for all spring sports. The winter basketball tournaments that had been suspended also were canceled.


“It seems we’ve gotten to the point where we hoped we wouldn’t,’’ board president Scott Privratsky of Devils Lake said before the vote, which was passed on a unanimous motion.

Spring activities had been suspended March 13 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winter activities that also were suspended that day were the Class A combined boys and girls basketball tournament and the Class B boys basketball tournament. They were the only winter sports whose season hadn’t concluded.
